Surrogacy is something I started thinking about when I was pregnant with my first child. I had a fairly easy uneventful pregnancy so I figured I could help a family make their dreams come true. What I didn’t think about or expect from it is the lifelong friendship I would have with the family or sisterhood with the other surrogates. I was fortunate enough to meet my IF before transfer day. This helped my kids put a face to the person whose baby I was carrying and set a great foundation for our relationship. We did two transfers since the first one didn’t take. I was able to video chat with him on Christmas day and tell him I was pregnant with his little girl! He was so excited and said that was the best Christmas present. It felt amazing! The pregnancy flew by with weekly belly pictures and Skype calls during appointments. It was finally time for my IF to come to town. He is from Spain so it was a long journey. Him and his mom came almost two weeks before I was due. We spent a lot of time together and they got to enjoy Boise. I ended up having her on my due date. Seeing the look on his face when she was born was amazing and something I will remember for the rest of my life. You could tell this was the greatest day of his life. She was beautiful and I knew she was going to have a wonderful life full of love. They stayed for a month and I saw them as much as I could. My kids got to spend time with them and they all fell in love with each other. My kids ask all the time when we can go see them. My family and friends got to meet them which was nice. I dropped them off at the airport and it was very emotional but I was so happy for them to start their new life together. We stay in touch all the time and he sends me a lot of pictures. We have become friends and I love that. My family and I are planning on going to visit when we are able to travel again. This was one of the best experiences of my life and I am so glad I decided to become a surrogate.
